I've never actually scene a French film before but I've seen one Spanish film. I think it is so interesting that the culture is brought out even in the style of a movie.

I would like to see some more foreign films because I liked th one I saw and I'm interested in what makes them different. I'm also confused about the whole thing about European films being high cult. Is it high cult because it is "European" or because of the style used in the creation?

I think I often overlook the music behind movies and how they change the mood. Actually, I think lately I've noticed it a little more than I have in the past. In the middle of a horrow film I remember thinking "this wouldn't be scary at all if that eerie music wasn't in the background." Directors owe a lot to the creators of this music.

I just recently finished a Dynamic Text project and one of the hardest parts was picking out the music. You have to find something that fits the content but also has the right mood and will appeal to the audience. It's more difficult than it looks.

I'm with you Garrett. "Beavis and Butthead" have never had any kind of appeal to me. I have to admit I do enjoy "King of The Hill" slightly more. I believe it is because the artwork is slightly less ugly. Plus the humor is less grotesque.

It seems to me the viewers of "King of The Hill" would be more mature and probably more aware of life issues than a "Beavis and Butthead" viewer. Sure the artwork is similar but humor is slightly more elevated with "King of the Hill."

I don't mind having some pointless humor now and then but it's good to feel like your aware of the world around you every now and then.

I've never seen Blade Runner but I think I would like to. It reminds me of a movie that I saw with Bruce Willis and another girl with pink hair I think. I can't remember what it was called. Anyways, this movie seems to make you think about what many sci-fi movies with robots make you think about--what is human. Often, this seems to come with fear that we are getting too smart for our own britches. I wonder what Ridley Scott thinks about our world now after 25 years.

Hey Garret. It is always amazing to me how one person can influence music so much. It is hard to believe Kinks has been created hits in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and in the new millenium. It seems a band would eventually lose its touch after it leaves its original affinity group in their respected time period. The Kinks have definetely shown that a band can keep up with times and adapt with changing taste.

You know, I'm starting to see a trend in this Jazz business. Artists like to redo songs. Take Micheal Buble for example. He has some of his own songs but he has many many songs that are just remakes of old jazz songs. Maybe Jazz is more of an art of interpretation rather than the creation of a song. That is really interesting and can really change the way we critisize an artist. I think I'll start keeping that in mind more when I listen to jazz music.

I love Joni MItchell! And I've never had many fond feelings for jazz, but after hearing a snippet of the album on NPR and reading this review, I am very interested in it.

Perhaps this album is a good way to really introduce myself to good jazz.

Great job!

Hey. I know that this is rough and it may be too focused on one album and it may be that HH doesn't count as a "contemporary" artist. I plan on asking Donna these things in class. I had written this review for Rebecca McGill and the Vino, so if it doesn't count for that reason, I understand, as well. However, I was planning on posting it here anyway, and I figured that I might as well post it when the assignment was more or less exactly what I had written.
You might just say that I wrote it early.
If I can post more or again, I will. At the very least, I'm a' edit it. But, I'm in the middle of some craziness, as always, so I figured I'd at least ask Donna if this will work, and if not, that'll be cool, too.
